1890's Victorian 39 2024 Paper Stand Up Toys Mostly Children Playing Games w Interesting Toys, SMALL Chromolithographs Backed w Cardboard
A set of SMALL Victorian stand-up paper toys which is the most interesting set of the paper toys I have handled so far.. Thirty nine (39) die-cut glossy chromolithographs on medium weight cardboard showing, for the most part, children at play. A nice portraiture of some of the late 19 c games AND toys/equipment used with them ( next to last picture.)
The figures range from the biggest, mother 2024 and daughter with Chinese lantern 3 3/4" x 2 3/8" to the smallest, a playing ball, 1 1/4' x 5/8".
There are cardboard stands to go with these toys, They are to be inserted crosswise into the cuts in the bottom of a figure. But the stands are so worn, they no longer offer support to the figures. Also, I have not counted the stands, and so I don't know if there are enough for all the die-cuts.
CONDITION OF DIE-CUTS: Bumped, creased, some scuffed and bent. The cardboard stands, which are intended to be inserted crosswise into figure bottoms, are so worn, they are no longer functioning as stands.
